First blog post

Welcome! My name is Deirdre and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to find my site! Since you are here, chances are you or someone you love and care for has been diagnosed with Alpha-Gal, the tick-associated allergic syndrome discovered to be caused by the bite(s) from the Lone Star tick although other vectors are a possibility. I have had Alpha-Gal since at least the Spring of 2011. My purpose for developing this website and blog is to bring awareness, and the A to Z format is what spoke to me through this thought process. You will find categories and sub-categories that feature a variety of real-life topics, covering everything from steps to getting tested to acceptance which would fall under “A” is for “Acceptance” or “Anaphylaxis” to learning to live in your daily life with this new life-altering diagnosis, and the frustration, isolation, grief and raw emotions that can come from this news. This alphabetical format will allow for my readers to easily locate a subject matter they are interested in learning more about. Please feel free to reach out to me to chat. I have established a designated email for this purpose, deirdre@alphagalatoz.com where we can communicate with thoughts and suggestions you may have. Please note that I am not a medical professional, and cannot give out medical advice; only suggestions that personally worked for me to help guide you. When I was first diagnosed in 2012, there was very little information out there to help someone like me figure it all out! It is through these many years of countless phone calls and research that I have developed quite a bit of information I wish to share. I hope you will join me on my journey!
Best Regards,
Deirdre
